Bio

Sonny Lombardozzi is one of only two guitarists in the world to play the double guitar (the first is the phenomenal Michael Angelo Batio), truly left and right handed.  He has also mastered playing seven, eight and nine string guitars.

Sonny’s story starts at the young age of 11.  Just three years later, he was ranked “Top Guitarist” by the Performing School of Arts in Erie, PA.  Later he moved on to study at Platinum Post Recording Studio in Winter Park, FL., where he got the opportunity to become the head guitar, bass and drum tech. This is also when he began doing guitar work for TV and Radio Commercials.

His diligence and focus towards maintaining a high degree of craftsmanship in his guitar playing has rewarded Sonny with being one of the fastest and most accurate guitar players in the U.S. metal underground,  the honor of being voted ‘Most Brutal Shredder’ by Death Zine South America, and winning the L.A. Guitar Wars. 

Sonny holds a place in the highly regarded ‘Metal: The Definitive Guide’ alongside such greats as Black Sabbath, Ozzy, and Iron Maiden, has appeared 6 times in Guitar World magazine advertising the latest innovation in music theory, The Guitar Wheel, and has an upcoming column in Premier magazine.

Honors such as these lead to the opportunity for Sonny to become the touring guitarist for Relapse/Century Media recording artists, Incantation, during their 2002-2004 tours. He performed  with them in Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, and 45 states across the U. S. Some other bands Sonny has guest appeared with were: 33 Cell, Castration, Fleshtized, Lord F*ck, Inner Other, Viotech and Deny the Sun, which took him to additional countries such as Sweden and Denmark.

Sonny is currently working on recording his first full length album. He has also been teaching, selling out guitar clinics and doing guest appearances at places such as NAMM in Nashville, the Prolight and Sound Conference in China, and the Rock Erie Music Awards.

Sonny is currently working with Curtmangan strings, Guitarwheel, Coffin cases and Halo guitars.
